Order of Lenin

                                                                          ORDER OF LENIN  
Highest award of the USSR.   Established on April 6, 1930.  Prior to WW II, this order was issued only 7,000 times. This order was awarded 41,000 times during WW II.  A total of 460,000 were issued prior to the breakup of the USSR in 1991. The order is made of 23 K gold.   Issued with a red and gold “Order Book”.  All persons awarded the Hero of the USSR gold star also received this order.  The Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals, Paul McDaniel and Paul J. Schmitt. 



This Order of Lenin, No. 197223 was awarded in 1951. It is in its original pristine condition, with the document book and the original presentation box.  There is not a mark or stain on the ribbon.

Metal content:        28.6 grams of gold, 2.75 grams of platinum, and .85 grams of sliver.
